May Wine Club Selections

May the Fourth be with you friends! This May, we are hitting the streets and giving you pink. Pink wine, that is. Both our international and domestic wine clubs feature spritely, dry rosés: you are going to love drinking them under the shade of your patios with your favorite summer album on the stereo.

INTERNATIONAL WINES:

An ode to Cabernet Franc! You violet, spicy vixen, you...

Marc Plouzeau 2013 Les Devants de la Bonnelière (Touraine Rosé)

This rosé is a bio-dynamically farmed beauty from the Touraine Appelation in the Loire. Its aroma is blue flowers and spicy herbs. It is smooth on the tongue and finishes with the signature herbacious, green pepper punch of cabernet franc. Pair this with a camembert on a summer afternoon and you will not regret it.

Marc Plouzeau 2011 Chateau de la Bonnelière Chinon

This Chinon, from the same bio-dynamic producer, is from the well-regarded 2011 harvest of Cab Franc in the Loire. Herbacious and slightly grippy, as you would expect, this wine finishes with a supple licorice note that smooths out your drinking experience. Making this wine lovely on its own as well as with food. Try pairing it with Chicken Provencâl and an evening supper with the neighbors: you're sure to impress.

DOMESTIC WINES:

Sierra Foothills/Lodi

Chacewater 2013 Syrah Rosé

This certified organic rosé from Lake County balances good acidity with California fruit: ripe cherry and strawberry are tempered by the signature black pepper kick of syrah and fruit that is picked before peak ripeness. Sit down with a bowl of ripe berries, a glass of this syrah rosé and a Scandinavian spy novel: sounds like a good Sunday to us.

Bokisch Ranches 2012 Tempranillo

This certified sustainable wine is comprised of grapes from two different vineyards, Las Cerezas and Liberty Oaks. It pours a brilliant deep red and tastes of blueberry jam and plum tart. This is your classic Tempranillo with bright acidity and soft dry tannins. A superb charcuterie wine and would also work well with venison or turkey and a nice, spicy compote. This, you should drink with your #1 boo over a candlelit table for two.

Be sure to join us Monday May 11th for the wine club tasting: $12 to taste all four wines and enjoy some complimentary bites. ($6 for members) 5:30 - 7:30 PM. We'll see you there!
